The G7 Summit 2016 in Ise-shima (伊勢志摩) was all the rage in Japan (not?). Several heads of states having a chat and nothing in the world would change after that. Anyway, the event probably made Ise a bit more well known to people outside Japan, so before all the world tourists start flooding there, we decided to check it out first.
Ise city (伊勢市) is in Mie prefecture (三重県), and together with the adjacent Wakayama prefecture (和歌山県), both of them we hadn’t visited before. We took this opportunity to cover all the main places of interest in this region.
